What this project demonstrates
LucidFence explores privacy-preserving family protection as a local systems problem across networking, policy enforcement, web controls, operations, and security—not just as a browser blocklist.
Architecture
Household devices → DNS/policy layer → filtering + search/video enforcement → local control plane → browser extension + admin workflows
Engineering highlights
- Family DNS filtering with safe-search and restricted-mode enforcement plus custom rule management.
- Self-hosted local administration, backup/reset workflows, system status, and browser-assisted controls.
- Security-focused validation including secret scanning, dependency/container checks, and device/network test planning.
- Architecture is public at a high level while source code and operational details remain private during alpha.
Boundaries / limitations
Private alpha. Physical-device and bypass-resistance testing remains part of the validation process; no production-grade effectiveness claim is made yet.
